Current operating system market share, according to this article:
Microsoft: 96%
Linux: 2.5%
Apple: 1.6%
I’d heard the sniping commentary that Apple had basically given up on computers in favor of iPods and phones, but 1.6%? That’s only 14.3 million units. Can there really only be 14 million Macs operating in the entire world out of almost a billion PCs? I guess if you assume virtually 0% adoption of Mac in China, India and the developing world.
By the way, I’m pretty sure all 14 million Macs are at SXSW every year.
